Desert War Era Veterans Day

Our first Desert War Era Veterans Remembrance Day was a great success. The weather cooperated with us and we were so excited to see over 140 veterans, their families and friends come and attend. Master Sergeant Steven Saunders spoke of his service, commitment to duty and the price exacted by our men and women who serve in the greatest military the world has ever seen. His words of encouragement for both the soldier who wield the sword and our local law enforcement who bear the shield reminded us all of the need to commit and understand that battlefields are both here and abroad.

We were also blessed to have Wayne Bier the father of Cpl. Joseph Bier USMC who gave his life in the cause of freedom, as our second guest speaker. Wayne brought to stark reality the cost of freedom paid by our service men and women as well as the cost at home for the families. His message touched all our hearts as we were reminded that faith and hope in God is the foundation of bringing not only families through this time in American history, but also the entire nation.

Special music was provided by the 133rd Army National Guard Brass Quintet. Special thanks must go out to them as they managed to rearrange their schedule at nearly the last moment to come and perform. The music was first rate and uplifted the event. Special thanks must also go out to Pastor Mark and Lori Fast who also lent their vocal talents in signing uplifting songs.

Our Desert War Era Veterans. We can not thank you all enough for your service, sacrifice and duty!

We can never forget the price of freedom...
